The naval architect Robert Perry improves the Valiant 40 design, over 200 units were sold, and developed the Polaris model, a blue water and seaworthy cruiser with classic lines. The self-tacking jib, with an inbuilt reef and on a boom, associated with the yankee and a full batten mainsail makes this vessel very easy to single hand. Her single double cabin allows for great live aboard volume and storage capacity, essential for remote anchorages or ocean crossings. The semi keel is built into the hull, the rudder skeg hanged and the hull is in solid GRP below the water line, the topsides and the deck are in Sandwich Airex. A very strong and innovating construction method of that time.
