A thoroughbred of offshore racing, ready for new ocean adventures.

A rare pedigree — over 30 years of ocean miles in her hull !

KONG is not just another Open 50. She is a yacht with a genuine history, built mile after mile over three decades in some of the most demanding waters on the planet — from the Caribbean to the Southern Ocean, from the North Atlantic to Cape Horn.

Designed by the Mortain-Mavrikios design office and built in 1994 at the Multicap yard in Martinique, this racing monohull was conceived from the outset for endurance and performance sailed short-handed or single-handed — the very DNA of the Open 50 class, a direct cousin of the IMOCA.

A racing career that speaks for itself

Under her former name TOP 50, the yacht built a solid palmarès and considerable offshore mileage:

  • Outright winner of a Transat Jacques Vabre out of Guadeloupe (1st/7 IRC, 25 days 19 hours, average speed 6 knots)
  • Winner of the crewed Dinartica race (Dinard – Lofoten Islands – Dinard)
  • Entered in the Route du Rhum, the first yacht built in the French West Indies to compete in this legendary solo transatlantic
  • Official escort vessel for the Mini-Transat
  • Over 20,000 nautical miles logged by her previous owner, split between performance cruising and major offshore passages
  • Hull structure and keel (laminated bulb) regularly surveyed and certified sound by specialist yards (Multicap Caraïbes)

An exceptional skipper at the helm since 2022

Under his stewardship, KONG was prepared and campaigned for the Global Solo Challenge — the non-stop solo round-the-world race via the three Great Capes — lining up alongside some of the toughest Open 50s and Open 60s in the fleet.

This pairing of a yacht built for the high seas with a skipper of exceptional pedigree stands as further proof, if any were needed, of KONG’s capability to take on any ocean on the globe.

Why choose KONG?

  • A proven yacht, every structural element tested by the ocean itself, well beyond standard yard trials
  • An Open 50 platform recognised for her ergonomic deck layout, solo/crewed versatility, and her ability to eat up the miles at speed, safely
  • A turnkey project for anyone dreaming of a transatlantic crossing, a round-the-world voyage, the Route du Rhum, or simply fast, rugged offshore cruising
  • A documented, transparent history, tracing every technical evolution, every race, every owner since she was built

Who is KONG for?

This yacht is for sailors seeking far more than a hull: a project with soul, a history, and untapped potential for the next horizon — whether that’s an upcoming offshore race, a solo circumnavigation, or a life spent on the open ocean.
